Becoming A Gym Dweller

Climbing The Strength & Body Aesthetic Ladder: How I Overcome Sitting Disease

    History

In Ancient Greece, the gymnasion was a locality for both physical and intellectual education of young men. The Greek word gymnasion, which means "school for naked exercise," was used to designate a locality for the education of young men, including physical education which was customarily performed naked, as well as bathing, and studies. For the Greeks, physical education was considered as important as cognitive learning. Nowadays, it represents a common area where people, from all ranges of experience, exercise and work out their muscles. You can also usually find people doing aerobic and cardio exercises or pilates.

    My Journey

I started thinking about going to the gym since April last year and I was only able to go on February due to the upcoming exam week. My original intention on why I wanted to workout was to achieve my dream physique but it was replaced by starting a new hobby that will make my body and mind as well as having a healthy lifestyle. When I first started, my schedule was chest & back on Monday, legs & core on Wednesday, and arms & shoulders on Friday, however, due to the busy schedule for school and school activities I decided to move my workout program on Friday, Sunday, and Monday so that I will have enough time for both my hobby and my academic life. Just after my first week, I already noticed a lot of improvements in my body both looks and strength like how my shoulders and biceps got bigger and stronger. I also noticed that I have gotten happier and more energetic ever since I went to the gym, I became more sociable and met new people and new friends that I workout with.

    My Favorite Workout Routine

The main part of my body that I wanted to grow was my chest and back so of course my favorite workouts will be related to those two.

  Bench Press Machine

When you do a bench press, you'll mainly work your chest muscles (pectorals), shoulder muscles, and those in your arms, pectoralis major.

    Lat Pull-Down

The lat pull-down is an upper-body exercise that focuses on the muscles of your back. Much like the squat and bench press, it’s considered a compound exercise. It is known for focusing latissimus dorsi, it also strengthens other crucial muscles of the back and shoulders.

  Chest Fly

The chest fly is a popular chest exercise used to develop the pectoral muscles. The exercise is performed on a bench with feet flat on the ground and knees bent at a 90-degree angle.

    Embracing My Growth

As time goes by I've learned self discipline and full determination by being consistent on my fitness journey. I have always been a frail kid and working out made my realize that all us are capable of change, improvement, and self appreciation. I've come to understand that the gym is not merely a place to build muscle and burn calories, but a place of self-discovery and personal growth. It is within these walls that I've learned to confront my fears, push past my limits, and embrace the power of perseverance. I wanted this blog to inspire my readers to start (or at least plan to) on changing their unhealthy lifestyle because it is never too late to make their life experience high quality than their current way of living.
